Sika Canada’s manufacturing plant in Edmonton, AB is hiring an Operator (Admix) / General Laboure to join our small, cohesive team!
In this role, the Operator (Admix)/General Labourer would be exposed to a number of different responsibilities throughout the plant, from production and batching of Sika's liquid admixture products to quality control. The individual will assist mainly with the concrete admixtures division, but as we are a very busy but a small team, they will have the opportunity to work with our cementitious-based powder products as needed.
The Operator (Admix)/General Laboure will:
- Producing Sika liquid admixture products by following Sika’s procedures and formulas
- Batching by adding material into the mixer and mixing the material according to Sika’s specified processes and keeping accurate records
- Testing samples for quality control purposes according to Sika’s procedures and entering the data into SAP
- Communicating any non-conformances to Team Leader or plant management
- Creating and closing process orders
- Washing and loading tanker trucks in preparation for shipping bulk orders
- Complete accurate trip sheet records
- Prepare and accurately label pails, drums or totes for shipping of non-bulk orders
- Properly labelling and storing product samples
- Performing and recording required equipment calibrations
- Safe operation of forklift and other plant equipment
- Work safely at all times, adhering to all company safety policies (PPE, lock-out, confined space, safe lifting practices, etc.)
- Participate in production planning for the department
- Ordering of raw materials required for production
- Completing preventative maintenance inspections based on a predetermined schedule (daily, monthly and annually)
- Testing PH levels of wastewater and record results
- Housekeeping duties including cleaning daily, disposal of plant waste and recycling, and cleaning between producing products
- Assist Team Leader and plant management as required
- Additional duties as assigned

We are looking for:
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably working with construction materials
- Computer literacy, and experience with SAP or other ERP systems an asset
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word etc.) an asset
- Forklift certification an asset (will be trained by company)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to problem solve and recognize errors or concerns in Sika’s products or procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Respirators must be worn when working on the lines. Employees must be clean-shaven.
- Environment: Work performed both indoors and outdoors - adaptation required to fluctuations in temperature and weather conditions.
- Dusty and dirty environment.
- Uniform provided
- Hearing protection provided and may be required in certain areas due to loud environment.
- Handling of various chemicals (i.e. liquid admixtures), proper respirator fit and wear required at times and in certain areas
- Substantial repetitive physical effort required

- Overtime may be required
